Day 3 - 40 Days in the Word

Fear the LORD your God, serve him only… - Deuteronomy 6:13.

This may seem simple enough, but there are many things that can become idols for us.  We are to serve Him only.  Just as our Lord said, "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other (Matthew 6:24.).”

Prayer:  Lord, we thank You that no temptation has overtaken us that is not common to man, and that You are faithful, and You will not let us be tempted beyond our ability, but with the temptation, You will also provide the way of escape, that we may be able to endure it (1 Cor. 10:13). Help us, Lord, to flee from idolatry and to only serve you - our King of Kings and Lord of Lords!  In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
