It can sometimes feel like the troubles of this world weigh heavily on us. Yet Scripture reminds us that believers are not without hope. Because of Jesus’ resurrection, we have been given a living hope and a future that is secure in Him.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. – 1 Peter 1:3-6

How does remembering your eternal inheritance in Christ help you keep perspective during the trials you face today?
On planet Earth we have all kinds of trials and troubles. In fact, our Lord told us that in the world we would have trouble, but to take heart because He has overcome the world. How amazing that God’s power is shielding us and keeping us until that great day when we are with Him! Life is a gift from our Creator and while there are hardships and troubles, there are blessings and beauty as well. And, when we are finished with this life, we have the gift of everlasting life with Him where there will be no more trials or tears.
Prayer: Father, thank You for all the ways You shield us and keep us. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of eternal life with You through our Savior, Jesus. We ask that You help us keep the perspective we need in battling life’s trials, knowing that You are with us and that we need to enjoy every moment since life does, indeed, go by so fast. Help us to use our time wisely as You make us into the creation we will be for eternity. In Jesus' most holy name we pray, Amen.
