There is deep comfort in knowing that our salvation does not rest on our ability to hold onto God—but on Jesus and His promise to hold onto us. In John 6:37–40, Jesus reveals the heart of the Father: that none who come to Him will ever be cast out, and none will be lost. This is not a fragile hope, but a secure promise rooted in the will of God Himself and fulfilled through Christ. When we truly grasp who Jesus is and what He has done, it changes how we live. We are no longer striving to earn our place—we are living from a place of belonging in Him. As followers of Jesus, we are kept, protected, and carried all the way into eternity. This truth gives us confidence, steadies our faith, and frees us to live boldly in the identity we’ve been given.
All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. – John 6:37-40

How amazing is it that it’s God’s will that everyone who looks to His Son and believes in Him will have eternal life and that He will keep us to Himself and protect us so that we will be brought home to heaven in eternity with Him! Being aware of this truth, we should be encouraged that the Lord is keeping us and that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). Let us not be princes and princesses in rags who don’t know the truth of Who we belong to and what our inheritance is! When we understand this truth, we will act accordingly in the ways He would have us - both with confidence and with the right motives.
How would your daily life change if you truly believed that Jesus is holding onto you securely and will never let you go?
Prayer: Thank You Lord that You have chosen us and that when we say “Yes” to You that You keep us and protect us on our journey through life and then you bring us home safely to eternity with You. Let us meditate on this truth so that we will be encouraged and know that we are eternally Yours and that You are working within us. We ask that You would open our eyes so that we would understand how amazing this truth is like we have never before understood. Help us to act in a way that is befitting of one who is the recipient of such a gift. Help us to understand the treasure You are! Let this truth drive away any unwarranted fears and allow us to live bold lives for You. We ask that You would give us divine appointments so that we can share this amazing truth with others. In Jesus' most holy name we pray, Amen.
